Collections Specialist I

Job Summary:

The Collections Specialist I plays a crucial role in supporting the financial health of Aeropay by managing and optimizing the collections process. This entry-level position involves contacting customers with outstanding balances, negotiating payment terms, and collaborating with internal teams to resolve payment issues. The Collections Specialist I is a key contributor to the overall financial stability of the organization.

This is a full-time, hybrid position. - 3 days a week in our offices located in Downtown Chicago

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Contact customers with overdue payments through various communication channels.
  • Negotiate and establish payment plans with customers.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address customer inquiries.
  • Update customer records and maintain accurate account information.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Collections Manager.
  • Adhere to company policies and compliance standards.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on collection activities.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in collections or a related field is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
